i recently purchased a mbp 2.33ghz laptop and things were great. now, it seems whenever i close the lid, the led light never pulses, but rather stays solid. then, when i open the lid, the screen is dark and will not wake up. however, the keyboard seems responsive and i can hear volume noises when pressing the volume up/down keys. if i try and go to sleep from the apple command thing, the screen goes black but stays lit, and freezes with a spinning colorwheel. the only way i have found to recover the computer is by holding down the power button and restarting it. this is beyond frustrating. any help would be much appreciated.

Before you close the lid, try making it sleep from the :apple: menu. If it still has the same problems, then it's something that needs to be dealth with by Apple right away. If does work this way, then take it into the Apple Store and tell them the computer doesn't register the lid as a sleep command.
Too bad though...good luck and I hope it works out for the best.

I feel your pain.

My macbook died on me a couple of months ago...left the room for a sec, screen went black and would not start again.

I sent it to applecare and they fixed it but since I've gotten it back I've noticed that it goes to sleep fine if I have it at my desk but if I take it elsewhere and try to put it to sleep I experience the same thing as you...screen blackens but status light stays solid and it becomes unresponsive and I have to shut it down. I've been avoiding calling applecare cause I need it for school but now I'm going to have to send it in.

It sounds like we have the same problem. Thank god someone else does!
