On my 20" iMac when waking from sleep, it awoke with ease but on my 27" iMac a beachball pops up for several seconds before it awakes. How can I eliminate this problem?

Personally the only thing I sleep on my iMac is the monitor. Go to:

System Preferences-Energy Saver-Power tab-change Computer Sleep to never (far right of slider)-Set Display Sleep to your desired setting.

Thanks but how does that solve the spinning beachball?
