I've purchased a Kanex iAdapt 51 to connect my MBP to my HDTV. I only want to use Front Row to watch movies but I can't figure out how to close the MBP and then wake it up with the remote. I did it a few weeks ago and now can't remember how I accomplished it. I've tried the following.
1. Computer close and sleeping, plugged in to AC and connected to HDTV. It wakes and says "unsupported source" on TV.
2. Computer open and plugged in to AC and HDTV, works fine till I shut the lid.

I might have gotten it to work by using my iphone remote and waking it that way but I can't remember. I just hate to have to have the movie playing on my MBP next to the same movie playing on my HDTV. Anyone done this successfully?

In System Preferences under Bluetooth > Advanced have you selected these settings?

I didn't have the "allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer" checked so I checked it. Is the Apple Remote for FrontRow a Bluetooth remote? Will that wake it now?

It's worth a try! Did it work?

Well, I think I've tried every combination now.
Tried waking with Apple Remote and Air Mouse on my iPhone.
Tried closing the lid when the Apple logo was on. (Saw that posted but forgot that would not let me sign in to my account.)
It does wake up but it does not set the external monitor correctly. Just get garbage in clamshell mode and it works open. Oh well.

The remote is IR, you need to use a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, or any USB version as long as it is hooked up before putting the computer to sleep.

Set up your mac with the HDTV the way you like it, make sure its plugged in to the wall and your mouse is plugged in as well, then shut the lid. Click the mouse to wake it up after its asleep.
The settings should be the same as when you put it to sleep.

I connected a USB mouse, connected the HDTV and my desktop was on the screen. I then shut the lid and clicked the mouse and the computer woke but the picture on the screen was garbled again. Any other suggestions?
