Hey

Is it possible to set my iMac G5 up so I can access it with ssh remotely once it has gone to sleep, when it's asleep and i try to access it with SSH it just hangs, is there a way to stop this?

Thanks

Looks interesting... Is it possible to wake it over the internet too? Which is what I really want to do...

No. Most routers don't pass the magic packet for WakeOnLAN. It only works in the same subnet.

While some places claim to be able to do this (HERE, for example), chances are very high that at least one of the routers between your computer and their website won't pass the magic packet. It's also possible that site is just a gathering point for personal comptuer data for nefarious purposes. No clue.

But generally speaking, WakeOnLAN is called that because it only works if you're on the same LAN.

Shame... Oh well...

Neat feature on my router...

It has a feature to do Wake-on-LAN for the computers in my LAN. So, if I access the router from the Internet, I can connect to the web interface, and then initiate Wake-on-LAN.

Too bad my router's only in Japanese language (which I can't read, btw) LOL
