Please direct me if this post is misplaced. I have been attempting to make my mac mini accessible from other systems on my LAN, and then also from across the internet. I have found while researching that the computer must maintain a wired connection because wifi cards do not support WOL. What about if the computer is connected via wire to a wifi extender? It would still receive the magic packet through the ethernet port, right? Or would there be some type of conflict with MAC addresses or something because the router still communicating wirelessly with the extender? If this is not a good idea, does anyone know of a way to wake a computer over wifi, special software, external peripheral, etc? My end goal here is to be able to wake the Mini, then access it either from my laptop, iPad, or phone, from any location.
