ok, so i'm lazy and this may have been posted before w/ an answer, so that'll make it all the easier to refer me to a link. If not, I have two "issues":

1) upon waking my wonderful new mac from sleep mode it flashes the screen at me as if it's teasing me and then goes black for a second then fades back in. Any idea why it might do this?

2) really really really really really really annoying- I know you'll all tell me to buy the apple router, but listen before you pass judgement that i'm an idiot. After waking my imac from sleep sometimes (most of the time) it takes about 30 seconds for it to recognize that there's an interenet connection via airport connecting to my wireless linksys over WEP. I have the WEP key in my keychain, however it has occasionally dropped it. Now, if I switch profiles to my wife's profile- boom. internet. Odd isn't it?

Any explanations? If your response is to buy an apple router, I'll be happy to provide an address for you to purchase me the apple extreme. :)

Thanks!
Robert

1) My MacBook occasionally "flashes" me also.

2) It can take some time to connect to a wireless connection after waking the computer from sleep; however, 30 seconds seems a bit long.

You said, "if I switch profiles to my wife's profile- boom. internet." Do you mean when waking the computer in her profile, it connects immediately, or when you're switching users, it doesn't take nearly as long to connect?

oh for sure...
My Macbook flashes me everytime it wakes up.. i take it as a wink ;) and that its working great! haha

and when its sleeping, it disconnects from the internet completely, so when i wake it up, it has to find the connection again. It will reconnect my aMSN everytime, takes about 20 seconds 30 maybe... but i think thats cause aMSN is not universal, its slow in general..

I didnt know it was spossed to do anything bette rthen that, i thought thats just how they are..

ok cool - i figured this might be part of the deal. ok... SO! if all of you w/ an apple router do you have this issue or is it immediate???

1. Maybe a bug? I sometimes get flashes of my screen saver upon waking when I have set to activate after the display falls asleep. Try setting your computer to a) not actiavate a screen saver or b) set it to go on before the display is shut off and the computer fall asleep (hard drive spindown shouldn't matter)

I don't have an Apple router and my wireless connection works instantly from sleep.
