Anyone have this issue? Battery should be 100% over night and remain at 100% until unplugged but it doesnt. Never has.... My 3G does, but my 3Gs does not. Bad battery, or defective hardware/software?

This might not seem like that big of a deal, but if goes from 99% to 100% 10-20 times a night, every few days id be using an additional charge cycle and will destroy my battery far faster than it should. These batteries only get at most 400 cycles before they are getting poor charges.

I find when that happens for me if I restart the phone the indicator adjusts to 100%. The battery percentage is becoming the most annoying feature I think, I watch it constantly whereas if we didn't have it we would never know the difference between 99 and 100%.

I notice a major difference. It will hit 98% while on my way to work, where as if I unplug it when its 100% and the charger icon is on the battery, it will not hit 99% until around 2 hours into work.

Hope its just a software issue.

I don't think this is a flaw but in fact on purpose. The battery can lose life due to standby while plugged in. If the battery was being charged while plugged in the whole time, it would ruin it. Not until a specified amount of charge is lost will the battery begin to charge. This happens in laptops as well.

Not sure if the term applies here but hysteresis is used in many electronics including your thermostat at home. There is an amount of temperature change allowed before the a/c or heat kicks on. Imagine what it'd be like if every 10 seconds your heat kicked on due to losing .1º. The system wouldn't last a year.

Well the phone doesnt even charge when plugged into my car adapter - certified as good by Apple. 15 minute ride to work using TomTom, and the battery was at 93% and the charger plug still appeared on my battery icon. Basically, the phone wasnt charging at all even though it was plugged in. Pretty frustrating.
