Anyone trying to pick up an iPad Pro as a walk in?

I tried to pre order the next day after announcement, but saw the ship date slipped two weeks that fast, and now at the end of the month. Impatience is making consider using my day off to see if I can pick one up. Thought I'd take a chance and go in Weds morning.

What do you think my chances of getting a Pro on launch?

Just curious what others might be doing.

When I went to the store to pickup my iPhone XS Max pre-order, I was shocked that there was no line, I asked about the line and they told me now everybody orders online. Then, I asked if they would have a Watch 4 in stock, thinking to myself no way, and they had plenty. I would say if you go very early Wednesday you should get one.

I am in the same boat, I will be at the store opening on Wednesday. My challenge would be that I am looking for the 1TB model, they might not have all the configurations in stock at the store though.

It all depends on demand. The online indicators are showing all models between 2-3 weeks. It really all depends on how early you arrive at the store. If your local Apple store is located at a mall, make sure you know the malls hours and how early they are allowed to let people in. My local Apple store opens at 10, and it is located in a mall that also opens at 10. I am going to see if they mall's doors are open at 7 and just be the first in line for the iPad. If not then I will keep checking for in store pickup availability and then go from there.

Store pickup is a very good option as well, if you keep monitoring the stores in your area, inventory will start showing up, especially during the first 72 hours after the 7th.

if you're first in line, or in the top 5, then you should be able to get the 1TB. I am also in the same boat. iPad pro 12.9" Silver 1TB Wifi+Cellular.

Depends on where you live. I happen to live in the Bay Area. You can try on the day that it ships, but it’s better to wait until the morning of the next day. Apple usually updates inventory for each store in the morning. I was able to book a watch 4 at my local store on the morning after. Basically all of the Bay Area stores had some inventory. Easiest for me was the Infinity loop store, but Stanford Mall also had it.

I’m expecting the same for an iPad Pro pickup. I plan to get an 11” LTE 256gb, and I expect to find it without a problem on the day after.

I am still debating between 12.9 and 11, I already have a 15" MBP, and I think 11 will be more portable and light, especially when you add the Folio and Pen.

Store pick up updates after store closing, so if you look close to midnight you might see some store picks for the next day.

I walked in last year on launch day in the morning and walked out with a 12.9" iPP, so if you get there at opening, you'll probably walk out with one. Granted, that Apple store is open 24 hours so I cannot comment on other locations.

I'd check the hours of your desired store and just go for it.

I spoke to apple employee in one store in east coast and he said they are getting a lot of iPad pros. I didn’t pre order cause wasn’t sure which size to get. Currently on 10.5 pro & 12.9 1st gen. On apple website when they compare side by side 11 inch screen is not looking bigger and 12.9 2018 has big screen but smaller body than 12.9 1st gen so I am sure which one to buy at this point. Plus the price is too much, i have a full setup of 10.5 pro and 12.9 1st gen. Sorry my reply become out of topic.

I'm walking in. I probably should do a preorder now just in case, though.

With Apple Watch 4, I was in the Apple Store for a battery replacement; I just happened to ask, and yes, they had the watch I wanted. That was around 3 p.m.; however, they sold out not too long after that.

It's going to be around 3 p.m. this time around as well. I'm thinking with the prices being what they are, I might be able to get lucky again, but who knows?

I understand that istocknow.com is pretty accurate.
