Walt Mossberg giving Windows 7 'thumbs up' in a review. I expect to see pigs flying by my window any time now...

I thought it was a pretty objective review, Mossberg is rarely biased. Still, I have yet to see the results with my own eyes. Getting an upgrade eventually.

I just switched my work admin machine from XP to Win 7 and I like it a lot. I found myself agreeing with most of the points in his review.

Hopefully this ups the ante and we'll see cooler stuff more quickly from Apple!

You forgot something...

"I still give the Mac OS a slight edge because it has a much easier
and cheaper upgrade path; more built-in software programs; and far less
vulnerability to viruses and other malicious software, which are
overwhelmingly built to run on Windows."

- Walt Mossberg

Windows 7 is nice. However, if you take into consideration all the bloatware installed by OEMs, Windows 7 won't seem all that good. Unfortunately, a bloatware-ridden Windows 7 is what most users are going to experience.

When was the last time you bought a Windows based computer?

Less than a year ago, a fairly decent HP notebook. It just had too much bloatware on it to the point where it was barely useable. A clean install of Windows Vista solved everything.

I've stuck to Dells lately. HP still likes to pile on the bloatware for some reason.

The last lot of Dells I ordered only came with Adobe Acrobat Reader and the Dell Dock installed.

That's good to hear. :) I wish more manufacturers would follow this trend, because I really think a lot of the bad Vista reputation is due to having too much bloatware on less than capable PCs.

Yeah they were the really cheap Inspiron 546 models as well.

Under $300 a pop since we had monitors. They were replacing Pentium 4 machines from 2003.
