Wanna hack but a few questions before

I feel like I want to become a jailbreaker or a hacker. These names are cool and my mom would be proud of me.

Anyway, here are my questions.

. What are the reasons for jailbraking an iPhone (I am not too clear about the whole thing) . Is it to use your iPhone on other carriers that ATT?
. Isn;t a problem when you bring your iPhone to the store for repair or exchange?

In short "jailbreaking" simply means opening up your phone so you can install 3rd party apps. It's a good thing trust me!!! "Unlocking" is the process of releasing your phone from any single carrier such as AT&T. Once you mess around with any of these processes, you automatically void your warranty, so be aware of this. there really isn't any problem with you bringing your phone in for repair, as long as your able to restore it back to stock 1.1.3 condition including reviginizing it.. So if you think you can live with these conditions then by all means try it out and see what your iPhone can really do!!!!

Well jailbreaking and unlocking are two different things. Jailbreaking is getting Installer.app and being able to install the many apps including Summerboard, Customize, iAno, NES, SNES, GBA, and PS1 emulators and the list goes on and on, while still being on the locked carrier, (AT&T for US, O2 for European Countries). If you want that, plus be on a different network, like TMobile, you need to unlock your phone which is a bit more risky.

If your phone is unlocked, you really cant take it in for repair because Im pretty sure you need to have a phone number with AT&T, and if you phone can boot, it almost always needs to be activated when taking it in. If you are with AT&T, and are just jailbreaking, you can just restore, and your phone is completely stock, and you can take it in for repair, no questions asked...

. Do you hook up your phone on your computer, opening up iTunes to manage the data on your phone or is it an all different set up?

. What does 'reviginizing' mean? Just restoring your phone to its "virgin" state, or its OTB state

ZiPhone will jailbreak/Unlock/Activate any firmware of the iPhone, but is most commonly used to jailbreak/unlock/activate 1.1.3. ziphone.org is the actual site btw and there is a tutorial for Windows right in this forum...
