Ok my pc just died and I have been wanting to get a new mac as my old ibook g3 just isnt cutting it either with photoshop and editing. But my dilema is I do not even have close to 1000$ but I see the financing option. Yet I am not 18 well not until July 18th this year the question is would I even get approved or not? I have never taken a loan or anything out. Anyone good with this credit stuff?? I really want a macbook 2.0, 1 GB, White.

You might get approved. I am not sure how stringent Apple is. When I turned 18 I got a credit card with no problem. Apply for a Credit card, get it. Wait 3 months. Then go for the Apple. Good luck.

EDIT: Use the credit card, then pay off the balance at the end of the month. This while help build your credit rating.

If you're 18, unemployed, and have never had a credit card, then you will not be able to finance a $1200 computer.

If you have a job, then financing is a possibility. If you get turned down, ask your parents to cosign on a credit line.

Well I have had a job since I was 14 and still have one. But I have never had a credit card. I just wasn't sure if you are automatically given some credit or at least something to start you off with once you turn 18. And with the co-sign I know that wont get approved because my parents are in debt. Ive just put all of my money into my business I recently started so...

You have to earn your credit rating. Nothing is 'given' to you automatically.
About the worst thing you can do is to buy stuff on high-interest consumer credit -- including charge cards, credit companies and Apple financing, which is underwriteen by a finance company, not Apple.

Save for it and pay cash.

If you must have the machine, go to the bank or credit union where you have been doining business since you were 14 (you have been saving your money, yes?) and ask them what would be necessary. Their interest rate will be lower than consumer credit.

Here, you have to be 19 before you can legally sign for credit.

They'd probably give you credit, because a friend of mine had a conversation with them about this. The problem is that with no credit history, they may ask for a co-signer, or, even worse, just slap you with a ridiculous interest rate.

Just save your pennies. Or do what I did 4 years ago and have your car get totalled by hail damage and use that money to buy a computer. (But unfortunately I bought a Gateway laptop that is now on its last legs and so I am about to get a Macbok).

I've got a good credit rating, have had credit for some time now, and I *STILL* can't get an Apple card. I've applied twice, and both times they come back with "not enough credit" ...what do you mean? Grr! I've had 8 credit cards, and paid them all off, closed 4 of them. I make enough to where I can hold a modest balance.

Oh well.

That's your problem there - too many credit applications and holding too many credit cards will adversely affect your credit. Consolidate all four remaining into one, close the three remaining, don't apply for any more credit, and your credit score will begin to climb in a couple of years. But you have to be patient.
