So today I installed the beta. Immediately picture in picture became my favorite feature. But obviously YouTube doesn't yet support it. And you can't just go to the YouTube site cuz all they want to do is redirect you to the YouTube app. So I hoped on weebly.com and no joke 2 minutes later I had a site with 3 video embeds. I didn't bother change anything else like the picture or anything. It's just the basic templet and YouTube embeds. This allows you to watch the videos in the Apple media player so you can use picture and picture.
I'm only embedding videos longer then ten minutes because if it's shorter then that I'll just watch it in the YouTube app or something.
Anyways this is supper helpful and I've watched a good 6 or so videos while playing clash using picture in picture today. It's really awesome.
Here's the link to my site
9youtubelinks.weebly.com

If you go to the link often (no idea why you would) you'll notice me changing the videos frequently because I finish the videos and then add new ones in for later.
Just wanted to share and hope a few people find use out of this :)

Maybe a bit easier: search for videos using Google Videos. That way, YouTube will use Apple's media player instead of their own custom one.

Yeah, you do need to delete the YouTube app. Also, make sure you've selected the desktop YouTube site.
sorry if i'm being dense mate but once you've deleted the app you don't need to use google as you suggested. you can go on youtube.com mobile site, search there, and it'll use apple's player :)

edit: just realised i should not be offering any advice/knowledge in this thread because iphone and ipad could be different. i'm going by iphone, but this is obviously about ipad :)

Yeah I didn't want to delete the YouTube app because I use it all the time, and I prefer it to the mobile site.

This doesn't work for me. I've deleted the YouTube app and videos still play in youtube's player and trying to go to the desktop site redirects to the mobile site. Searching for videos on Google.com doesn't work either.

Top left on YouTube mobile, than select desktop. From there, go to google.com, select videos and search for a video.

Actually it is even a bit simpler.

1. Delete YouTube App
2. Choose desktop Site on YouTube
3. Click on "Try something new" ( or similar...it is in German for me) at the bottom of the page and choose the new player. It now always uses the apple player instead of the Google one.
4. Have fun !

Always? Sometimes it says something along the lines of "Not available on your device" to me. :(
