One of the most interesting parts imo at the keynote yesterday was the new 10.2 inch iPad. I thought it might be time to upgrade from my Air 2. I got on the website and saw the catch. In addition to it starting at &329 it also starts at a measly 32gb of storage. The other option is 128gb and $429. Come on Apple, 32gb of storage in the base model? I am kind of disappointed, but I guess it’s Apple. This post is not meant as a rant and it doesn’t end with me switching ecosystems. Just a tad bit disappointed that’s all. Guess I’ll stick with my Air 2...

I think for a lot of people, myself included, 32gb is enough. I keep very few files on my iPad. Everything is in the cloud. Having said that, my Air 2 is still working well, even on the betas of IOS 13. My wife needs a new iPad and we might get her the new 10.2. She doesn't need more than 32gb.

I agree, 32GB on any device especially iPad in 2019 is a slap in the face. Heck, even Apple Watch S5 has 32GB now.

Well, you have to remember that this is still the iPad that they target at the education market. As someone who has purchased iPads for a school, I can tell you that 32 GB is enough. So much is cloud based.

But yes, for personal use, most people will probably opt for 128 GB, which is still a fair bit less expensive than other iPads except a Mini with half the storage.

While it is small, you know the fallback you will often hear is that with iPadOS, you will be able to use external storage.

64GB should be the absolute bare minimum these days, because of the way most use their iPads, media and photos/videos which take up a lot of space in HD (and higher resolutions).

Not sure what to tell you. The 6th-generation iPad was already a really good value at the same price for a product they just upgraded in a few nice ways, and 32GB is plenty for plenty of people, which is who it's for. So is that, "come on, Apple – why won't you do for most people what I happen to want in particular…?"

Is 64 GB enough for you? If so, then get the $469 iPad Pro 10.5". It's available on the US refurb store, and I see you're in the US.

The iPad Pro 10.5 is a HUGE upgrade over the iPad Air 2.
The 10.2" iPad is less of an upgrade over the iPad Air 2.

Even the Apple Watch 5 comes with 32 gigs now. I would think “many” people would need more storage on an iPad than a watch. I’m bought into iCloud as well and still couldn’t get by on 32. The “other” can take up tons of space on it’s on.

On the contrary, most people now stream videos (ie. Netflix), and put their photos in the cloud/social media.
And it’s not like Apple doesn’t offer higher storage option. If 32GB is not enough for you, then don’t buy it.

Is this just a copy & paste thread? The 7th gen iPad is literally the same retail price as the previous 6th gen with the exact same storage options. If it worked then and got lots of positive reactions then, why change it?

Of course, I’m sure they’ll eventually change the price and storage options, but like others are saying, these options suit most consumers just fine.
