iPhone Want to buy 4S after the launch but concerned about people upgrading to iOS 6

I am wanting to buy an iPhone 4S (used) after the next iPhone launches as i expect prices to come down in the used market. But the thing that concerns me is that since iOS 6 will be available for public, people might update the iOS versions on their 4S which means that it won't be jailbreakable (at least for the time being).
I would prefer to buy an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 which is untethered jailbreakable.
Is there actually something i should be concerned about ?

just ask everyone you are considering buying it from what iOS version they are running.

Always with the Jailbreak crap, Jailbreak= I want to steal as much as I can all the time because I should not have to pay for anything.

Most people who jailbreak their phone advertise it as that and know not to upgrade. If you are buying via craigslist, you can always check the phone version in person.

My 4S is JB and I have BiteSMS and guess what?!?!.... I paid for it to get the lifetime license.

Just because people JB doesn't mean they're all about stealing. I admit, there are some out there who do it for that purpose, but everyone I know buys apps and tweaks.. even JB'ed.

You make yourself look like a tool making generalizations like that.
 
leave the troll or jailbreak hater alone you are not going to educate people like that. any way you slice it he came to cause trouble. As far as TS question. I give the buyer the option if they want to buy it jailbroken or non and try to give them a choice of firmware. I promise there will be plenty of jailbroken devices out there.

Yes, SOME people jailbreak to steal stuff. MOST people jailbreak for the useful tweaks, apps, and the themes.

I'll show you my paypal receipts. I have paid more for tweaks from cydia than apps from the app store.

You obviously know NOTHING about the jailbreak community, or how useful it actually is. Seriously go do some research, and maybe experience a jailbreak for yourself before you decide to post such stupid comments.

I agree. Many people who sell their used jailbroken device make sure their phone is still on a jailbreakable firmware. Either that or the seller will have it jailbroken already. Sure there will be some who upgrade to ios 6 before selling just to try it out, but it's possible Musclenerd's A5 downgrade could still work. As far as I know, Apple has yet to patch the technique used to downgrade the A5 devices. So hopefully that'll be just additional ammo in your hunt for a jailbreakable 4S.

Like labman said, you won't have a problem purchasing a 4S for which you can jailbreak.

On this forum maybe. Vast majority of jail breakers I've met in person do so only to download cracked apps. Most of them or nowhere near technically literate enough to do much beyond that anyway. I know it's anecdotal, but... piracy is rampant in the general public. No reason to believe people are going to be more honest with iOS devices than with everything else

I don't agree I also no lots of people that jailbreak most of them very happy to pay 99 cents or 2 fillers for a app and that includes teenagers. So what's the moral of your story don't sell your nice jail broken device or it will be used for evil?

Did I say that? Why does an anecdote have to have a moral. I'm just stating my observations. I really don't care what people do with the device I sell - they'll do it either way, whether or not I jailbreak it beforehand. It's no different than how most people have loads of stolen songs on their iPods (and that doesn't even require any modifications to the system).

So what was the purpose of your post it has nothing to do with the TS question or concerns. all I see is you mentioning is that in you think that most jailbreakers steal. We are not even discussing that. Just if there will be jailbroken 4s after 6.0 is realeased. So imo your purpose is to make jailbreakers look bad. not the simple fact that many of us just want to either improve our devices or have features or tweaks and themes that Apple won't allow us to have on our devices.
 
Wouldn't the only thing that matters is if it the iDevice was at some time jailbroken while running 5.1.1? Because if that's the case then Cydia has the SHSH blobs saved allowing the device to be downgraded using Redsn0w?
