At first I was interested in getting a used MacBook Pro 13" or 15", but based on my search via eBay. By the time the bid was over, I would be paying close to the price of a new one at the Apple Store. I checked out Craigslist, called a guy from his ad. Only to find out he sold it and forgot to remove the ad;( And he mentioned that he was selling them (2nd one for $1,500.00) so that he could get a iMac. I read up on the features of the iMac and how it could benefit me as far as music production because that's what I would be using it for mainly anyway. And it seems to be a perfect fit.

I saw a great offer at Mac of All Trades and Gainsaver, but it seems the reviews for Gainsaver have caused me to look else where. Can anyone recommend the best place to go for buying a used iMac with descent specs? And if you have shopped there before and had a great experience or not please share.

I have a 2.5 year old 20-inch iMac that is in near mint condition in my opinion. I baby it. I'll soon be getting the Core i7 one.

Such a machine whether mine or someone else's can be a really good value. Mine also has apple care until next august, so look for things like that.

I think individuals can provide a better machine sometime than a business. Individual fans of macs often keep all the packaging, boxes, etc. just like the machine was new.

You might want to keep a close watch on eBay because one day a great deal may pop up. Also, MOAT gets good reviews, but I have never bought anything from there though. Good luck on your search :)

Wow! Thanks for the tips Powerbook 911. I will definitely keep that in mind. Although I have noticed a few standout sellers. For ex: on ebay with 100% ratings that include a few months left on the warranty, extra software, etc. But a warranty is priority to have for me. So I overlooked the sellers who didn't include it.

I just saw a great deal at Mac Mall for a brand new iMac and it's within my budget! I'm still going to shop around and get it after doing more research.....

Raysfan81 you're absolutely right! I will definitely keep a look out on eBay. As for Moat? I haven't heard of them. But I will find out more about them and what they have to offer! Thanks !

MOAT....Mac Of All Trades. Why didn't I catch that the 1st time I read it....lol

They still haven't replied to my email or returned my phone call. I will be a bit more patient considering today is New Year's Eve....
