Hi

So I just bought a new iMac. Love it. Its certainly a step up from my old G4 Mac Mini. Anyway, after buying a mini-dvi to vga adaptor to hook up my second monitor and Aperture I have £65 (about $90 I think) to spend. I have no idea what to get!

Just want to say I already have an external HD, as Im pretty sure that would be suggested. :)

I just want to get an extra for my iMac wether it be fun or practical I don't really mind. I would appreciate any suggestions thanks. Sorry if there are loads out of things out there like this but I just couldn't really find the right thing. Anyway I think suggestions from people directly is the best way to find out anyway. Thanks.

Well I might do RAM, that has always been at the back of my head, yes I currently have 2GBs. I think the Mighty Mouse it great, but I suppose that just opinion. Thanks guys.

Keep the suggestions coming.

Well, you could:

a) buy some awesome speakers

b) buy a better mouse

c) buy some games

the cursor movement of the mighty mouse is what kills me. it takes like three drags to get it across the screen, even with the cursor speed at the highest setting.

Buy a decent external sound card. Excellent choices for around $30-$40 American. I use the Edirol UA-25 and FA-101 (Fire wire) cards in the studio, but on the road, I use the Behringer U-Control ($30 online). Perfect for ANY sound you want, it has a Toslink in/out, and 2 channel analog ins and outs (RCA jacks), and headphone monitor (I think, can't remember now:)).

Regardless, this is a great way to get excellent sound from your iMac (OR to your iMac) via USB, noiseless! The headphone/mini jack on the back of the Mac is noisy and useless.

Have fun

I would definantly buy more memory. I think that is a must. I would then buy some new speakers. The imac speakers are great, but it is also nice to have some suround sound around you. I personally like the mighty mouse. It works fine for me. There are definantly better mice out there, but a mouse i think is a last resort. Spend your money on music or software instead of a mouse.
