I picked up a Microsoft band to try out while I'm waiting on my Apple watch to ship. Went to the gym and couldn't pair my Plantronics backbeat Bluetooth headphones, they wouldn't even show up in the list. My Band was already paired. Did a little searching and it sounds like only one item like this can be paired to the iPhone! Once I have the watch I'll be able to pair my headphones to the watch and listen to Spotify and still use the watches fitness features while at the gym correct?

As far as I know, there's no spotify app for the watch so you'd have to pair to the phone and listen from that. You could control the playback from the watch though.

As of now though, there's a bug where if you listen to music from the watch and leave the phone range, your headphones cut out. The workaround is to turn bluetooth off on the phone. I hope they fix this one soon, bugs the **** out of me at the gym.

You would pair the headphones with the iPhone to get Spotify (unless/until spotify supports offline playlists on the apple watch). You can still control pause/FF through Now Playing glance on the watch, but that is all you would be controlling with it.

I can play, pause, skip with my headphones. I just want to be sure I can pair my headphones to listen to Spotify AND still have my watch paired to receive notifications and fitness tracking.

Something wasn't right there... I used a Microsoft band for a short time (maybe a week or so), but I had no problem using it with other bluetooth accessories at the same time.... a bluetooth headset for calls, bluetooth headphones for music, my car for calls and music.

In answer to your question, though, no... you won't have any problems pairing bluetooth headphones (or other bluetooth devices) to your phone while using the apple watch.

You also have the option to pair bluetooth headphones to the watch and listen to itunes music that you've synced to the watch without the phone at all, but that only works with itunes music... not spotify or anything else.

I'll try it out some more tonight. I had an issue pairing the band for starters cause this was actually my second one. Maybe the band is paired wrong or something.

I was able to get the headphones paired while the Band was also paired. Had to forget the band first and then I repaired the headphones and while they were paired I paired the band. Works great so far!

I haven't found a way to have the bluetooth headphones connected to the watch and stream the music/podcasts over wifi from the phone. This does not seem to be possible yet. The headphones connect to the watch fine but when I play the audio from the watch, it comes out of the phone and not the watch (headphones).

Once I figure this out, I'll be able to leave my phone anywhere in range of the wifi network which will be great! As it is now, the headphones need to connect to the phone to work properly which severly limites range.
