Want to go back to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 from Maverick

Hello everybody,

I have a 15' rMBP Mid 2012.
I been having some issues with OS X Mavericks and would like to go back to
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.

How can I go about in doing so?

where can I get Mountain Lion 10.8, it seems not to be in the Mac App Store.

Do a restore from your last Mountain Lion Time Machine backups.

Did your mac come with Mountain Lion installed ?

Yes it did but I did a Clean install of Mavericks and Erase my drive slate clean before installing Mavericks.

Didn't try an Internet restore that's the only thing that I can think of working If you don't have a backup or a friend with ML on a USB stick.

Do a command-option-r boot to Internet Recovery. Once the recovery screen comes up start Disk Utility and select the drive name at the very top (like Seagate 1TB or whatever) and erase the entire disk in Mac oS Extended format. Then quit Disk Util and click install OS. That will download Mountain Lion from Apple's servers and install it on your machine. This will of course erase any data on the machine.

You are not seeing Mountain Lion in the App Store because you never bought it there. It came with your machine.

I followed your posts because I have the same MBP 2012 and I feel so disappointed by Mavericks for many reasons

I was thinking to do a clean install but I'm afraid to work a lot for nothing

Why did you go back to Mountain Lion after a clean install?
I'm not a heavy user of Photoshop and don't have FCP

Did you notice - for the short time you used Mavericks after the clean install-
an improvement in the general use of your MBP?
Finder, starting the computer ect?
Did you decide to go back to MLion because your photo applications work faster?

Just another way to get Mountain Lion today, that could be useful to some.

Goto this page on the Apple web store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion

You buy the Mountain Lion install file there for $20, and then wait about 3 business days.

At that point, you'll get two emails from Apple: one with an attached PDF that contains a content code that lets you buy Mountain Lion at the App Store, and the other with a password to open that PDF.

Copy the content code, go the App Store, and download Mountain Lion.

To be sure, take that downloaded copy and put it somewhere else than your Applications folder. That way, you can use it multiple times without it erasing itself.

Dave, who partitioned the internal drive on his new iMac that came with Mavericks installed and then installed Mountain Lion in the other half which he needed to solve certain work and personal compatibility issues

If your MBP came with ML then you should be able to download from recovery option. Or as suggested restore from previous ML time machine backup.

As a third option, and IF you under Apple Care, take it to the Genious bar and have them do the reinstall.
