It's a good APP for learning Chinese.

But I think the best way to learn Chinese is going to Confucius Institute spending one or more weeks,you will master more than your expecation.

Thanks. Learning course at school is no doubt the best way to master a language. However, not all people have oportunity, time or money to go to school. And formal course is far harder than this one.

We try to develop a suitable way for english-speaking people to begin the interest of learning Chinese. It's cheap but useful as we think.

Although Chinese is difficult language to learn but now a days it's easy to learn Chinese online. Purplepanda dot com dot au provides best solution to learn Chinese, Mandarin*through flashcards.

There's also the problem that saying that one "speaks Chinese" is a rather vague statement to make. There are so many varieties: Mandarin, Cantonese, Wu, Taiwanese, the list probably goes on further.
However, you mention that the characters have been adapted to the language. That's the key word: "adapted." In Japanese, for example, kanji are used nothing like the Chinese they are borrowed from. Korean doesn't even use them other than in some names and for distinguishing homophones. In each case, the characters are never used without some sort of alphabet, be it kana or hangul.
In any case, you can't just learn the characters. You have to actually learn Chinese, both writing AND speaking it. Practice, and you'll get it sooner or later.

Yes it is hard to learn chinese. There are about 80,000 characters but most are not used so I'd say if you are learning the simplified chinese character set you will need to memorize 2000-3000 characters. This is just my estimation though.
