Want to move files to Windows

1) I want to move 11.66 GB to Windows. I have tried compressing that file in the Finder but its the same size. What gives? I thought that when I zip the file, the size is smaller than the unzipped file?

2) Anyways, I don't want to use MacFuse and stuff for moving my files because it has too many bugs right now and it didn't work out for me last time since my MBP was running much hotter and took a minute to shut down.

I want to make my still-need to create Vista partition on Boot camp run as a virtual machine in VMware. I am installing Vista right now as we speak. I haven't tried this method but when I do make a boot camp partition run as a virtual machine in VMWare, what happens? Does the boot camp partition gets deleted? If not, can I move files from my Mac to Windows using this method?

Well, you will have seen by now that when u use the bootcamp partition in VMWare u can access and copy your files. But there's a little really stable program called MacDrive that works flawlessly. What it does is that when you've booted into bootcamp all your HFS+(Mac) partitions behave like windows ones. It's like the opposite of MacFuse, only it actually works

Not necessarily; if that were true you could reduce any file into an infinitely smaller one. If the file has already been compressed using some sort of compression algorithm then compressing it again it will have little to no effect. Either that or it's 11.66GB of truly random data. I'd say the former is more likely

I suspect you are trying to move music or video files which are ALREADY compressed.

No point in compressing. Just get a FAT format drive, copy the files, or do it via file sharing.

If on the same computer, Within windows you can use MacDrive, and in iTunes you can choose "Not copy files" and just reference your Mac itunes folder.

Ok, I insert my Vista Ultimate disc in and it restarts and goes to the setup and I see all the partitions in my harddisc. I select the one that says Bootcamp and then what do I do? Do I format it? How do I format it to FAT32? I have made 32 GB partition using Bootcamp Assistant.

Vista won't install on a FAT partition. Strictly NTFS.

Oh damn it. So I can't move files around with tghe NTFS format without downloading anything right?

But I wanna go the VMWare route now. If I make the Vista bootcamp partition run as a Virtual Machine, what happens? Will I lose my bootcamp partition?
