Hi there,
I have a Mac Pro with all four hard drive bays full. I want to take out one of them and pop in a bigger drive.
On my desktop, I know which drive I want to take out, by its name.
But when I shut down, open the side, and look at the four bays... all the drives look identical.
Is there some way I can find out which drive is in which bay (left to right when facing the open side of the MP, from front of MP to back), so I don't have to guess?
thanks,
malch

System Profiler will tell you.

In that picture, it says "Bay Name: Bay 1"

Yours should do the same.

O.K., that's exactly the information I was looking for... one more question though. I now know that the drive I want to replace is in Bay 1.
But which is Bay 1?
When I'm looking at the open side of my Mac Pro (with the front of the MP to my left, back of the MP to my right): is Bay 1 the left-most bay, or the right-most bay?
Thanks again,
malch

Bay 1 is the left-most one. Also, the drives should be labeled 1, 2 ,3, and 4.

Jake. Thank you. I see that now (my office is too dark. Plus at this time of year in Canada, the days are too short!).
Thanks so much to you and strausd.

malch
