Want to try MAC for first time but not sure...

I am currently using a Dell XPS 15, I have always used Windows. I love everything about computers so I want to explore more, I have never used OSX before but it looks beautiful. The base model 21 inch new Imac has an okay price and better specs than my current laptop so I'm thinking of buying a MAC for the first time but i'm not sure if i'll be happy with it.

Main uses would be: Adobe Photoshop(most important), video editing, playing call of duty now and then and ofcourse surfing the web.

I can't afford the other imacs, they are too expensive, I'm a student.

Well, dude, I don't know where you are in the World but, in the UK, students in Higher Education get 12% off iMacs. My current machine was £1,649 to Joe Public - cost me £1,452.

It's still a big chunk of money, sure. But Apple's student discounts are great.

I dont live in the UK, neither USA. But I will order it from amazon.com and DHL will take care of sending it to me. (DHL is also expensive)

Okay, mate. But if you have Apple Stores where you are, it might be worth going to speak to a member of staff - or call them - to ask whether they have the educational discount in your country, too.

Trying Mac for the first time

There is a small learning curve to endure, but once you really get into it you will find that it is a great machine and O/S. For instance I run Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Preview, Outlook, Firefox, iTunes, Safari, SeaMonkey, and run Time machine backups without any slow down at all. Also Time Machine is awesome so make sure you use it, it backs up about every 15 minutes, so if you mess up a file you are working on, your backup is easily accessible.

I can tell you this, I do not know how well I would be doing in grad school, without the power of OS X!

Just make sure you learn that some keyboard commands are different, and that when you close a window, the program keeps running.
