Just got back my 667 Tibook DVI after a new palmrest and superdrive and new hd added and the tech put TIGER on the machine.

I also just bought an iBook 14" 1.33 that came with a free box of Tiger (haven't opened it the 'book yet but I assume it has Panther on it). I also have my Panther discs. Do I just put Panther in the machine or how do I get rid of Tiger? Just not ready to take the leap yet; also afraid my Tibook even with 1gig of ram will choke on widgets or something. Also don't have proper time for Tiger learning curve this week...

As far as I'm aware to go backwards with an OS, you need to do a complete archive and install. But I'm hoping I'm wrong.

A friend has an iMac 800HMz G4 with 764MB RAM and he says Tiger is faster than Panther on that machine. The difference between the two learning wise is very slim. You won't be lost with Tiger.

I'd say try out Tiger first and then maybe investigate going backwards.

Tiger is fine, there really isn't anything to worry about unless you are super anal. It's just as seemless as Panther, quit worrying

Yeah, that TiBook 667Ghz G4 will run Tiger easy! Especially with 1GB RAM. You'll actually see some things get faster if the tech did a complete reinstall instead of upgrade.

This is what I don't understand. How can these "repair guys" just put OSs on computers like that. Like I know people that had their PC's upgraded to XP, but they never got a disk or anything, the guy just installed it. Same with Macs, people bring them in, and the guy puts the newest OS on it. He makes his money (maybe his living) off of of Apple and their invention. They should stop trying to cheat them.

Yeah, man. I was wondering the same thing. I don't get it. Isn't that illegal? It doesn't seem right to me at all.

But anyway, the TiBook will run Tiger just fine. Give it a shot. You'll love it!
