You can update to 5.1.1. You don't have any options for iOS 6 (if you want an untethered jailbreak)

Download the 5.1.1r1 shsh blob for your device using tinyumbrella or iFaith.

Open iFaith and click created sign ipsw with blob. Select the shsh blob you just download. It'll verify the blob, then click "download for me". After it is done, choose the ipsw if it asks you to and then click continue. It'll stitch the blob to the firmware. Once that's done, follow the instructions to put your device in pwned DFU mode

Open iTunes, shift + click restore and then choose that custom firmware

Once it's on 5.1.1, download absinthe v2.0.4 from greenpois0n.com and untether jailbreak your device

If you REALLY want iOS 6, upgrade to 6.1.3 and use redsn0w to get a tethered jailbreak (point it to a 6.0 ipsw, it'll say the 6.1.3 ipsw package is not supported)

Good luck!

After upgrading to 5.1.1 can i normally update my phone to the latest version without jailbreaking?

Are you talking about 6.1.3? If yes, just plug your phone into iTunes and click backup, sync, and then restore. You don't need to restore to 5.1.1 to restore to 6.1.3

It'll download the 6.1.3 ipsw package and restore to 6.1.3 for you

Is there something in iOS 6 that really appeals to you over iOS 5? If its stability, iOS 5.1.1 is more stable than 5.0.1. I'd take an untethered jailbreak over a tethered one any day

Cool, thanks so much! I will stick to 5.1.1
Hope the switching process from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 works properly! Thanks :)

5.1.1 doesn't bring much new over 5.0.1

i would stay there and save yourself the hassle and the risk.
