Hi..I have an iMac 21.5 inch with Processor3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 .

Now, I want to upgrade it to 8GB RAM.
I think, the iMac has 4 slots. Right now, it has 2GB -2GB in 2 slots and 2 slots are vacant.

Im thinking to buy this,

Is it compatible with my iMac ?

Let me know please.

I have another question as well.
I have Macbook Pro with the same configuration as above, but with 2.53GHz processor, I think.

Can I buy this same RAM for Macbook Pro also ?

Yes that is the correct RAM, I'd recommend buying 2 of them to bring your machine up to 12 GB. RAM is very inexpensive right now so this should be at or below $110.00.

Ok, I just saw, the above one is only for iMac.
For Macbook pro, I got a different listing on the same site.

Ok, so you recommend getting 2 of those 4GB RAMs for the iMac, so it becomes 12GB RAM ?

Can the iMac processor handle that 12GB RAM and boost the performance ?

Yes and yes

Very interested in this too. I love how RAM is so cheap these days. Is 12GB overkill?

Not if you are using many different apps that will utilize that much ram. If you are just doing web browsing and word processing then, yeah, that is a waste of money. But if you are frequently running out of ram in your current configuration then I would say go for it.

I went from 4GB to 12GB only yesterday. It's tweaked performance across the board.

Opening applications, games and videos takes a second or two, rather than five or six. And everything just seems slightly... sharper, if you know what I mean. As in, you'll notice that the incidental delays (that never really annoyed you, anyway) are shorter, too.

RAM's not expensive at the moment. If you can afford it, go for it.
