ok so I love the accelerometer feature and how it rotates the screen. I have always loving referred to any device with this capability as having 'iphone technology' :D

But sometimes it's just inconveniet... usually just when I am going to sleep and I am laying down in bed. I will be holding my iphone in portrait mode with reference to MY body, but landscape mode with reference to gravity (how how i hate thee gravity.. :p)

So I would like to see some sort of 'lock screen' implemented. where you can keep the screen in either landscape or portrait mode no matter how you turn the iphone. I can see apple implementing something like this in 3.0 instead of copy and paste. because they know what the people really want ;)

though wouldn't be half bad but it would have to be a feature you can turn on and off quickly without closing windows and such.

Right now I'd prefer to never see my 3G iPhone go into the O network, which is the GRPS or whatever old ass connection that was when I am sitting in the center of one of the more heavily populated 3G networks. I missed a couple of e-mails yesterday and it truly annoyed me.

Adjustments for Vision impaired.

Apple Please!!!! Adjustments for Vision impaired.

Fonts need to be adjustable so people with eye problems can use the device. Also be able to reverse the backgrounds to white fonts on black (or dark color) background. And the SMS needs to be in landscape mode for easier typing for the vision impaired.

So simple and would make a world of difference for a lot of people.

Thanks

Hell yes we neeeeeed this! Some one make it so. In cydia! Coverflow is VERY annoying!!! And I know how you feel OP! I lay sideways in bed and go on Internet and listen to music and the accelerometer thinks I want to be in landscape mode! When I would just like to look at my phone in portait.
Come on apple or cydia! It's a great idea :D

Yeah one of the most anoying thing about the iPhone, I hate lying in bed browsing the web and safari goes into landscape and gets stuck there so I have to restart safari, gah I hate that!

with reference to gravity (how how i hate thee gravity.. :p)

I once knew someone who's father tried to teach them that gravity did not exist. He said, "If you don't believe in something, then it is not real. So do not believe in gravity, and you can fly."

This may help your gravity issues. lol:p

Haha same here! I lay down I'm bed sideways with my iPhone as well and with the slightest tilt it will go in landscape mode. I would like to lock it in portrait!
But this is an excellent idea guys! Hopefully in the future our wish will be granted! :D

Thank you Mr Grammar Nazi sir.

Don't you mean:

"Thank you kind sir for helping me correct my english so i may be understood more clearly by people around me."?

I don't know... personally i like when people correct my english.

(If I've made any mistakes in this post please correct me :) )

i would LOVE this addition. i get so fed up with safari going into landscape when i'm in bed on it! have submitted it to apple feedback!

A lock feature would be awesome. Another idea would be, whilst locked, if you wanted to view in landscape, a MacBook-style, two-finger swirl gesture could be used.

I would also love this feature. You're right on about when laying (is that correct?) in bed and it just tilts away.
However like many i don't think apple will do anything about this. They seem more intent on have as little customization as possible which really annoys me. For example how good would profiles be (like from nokia)?
Or maybe make the silent/ring switch customizable so that the user can choose its function e.g. turn wifi on/off or more related to this thread turn the accelerometer off/on.
What's most annoying is that this is really simple stuff that apple just neglects. Don't get me wrong though, i really like my iPhone and wouldn't swap it for another phone.

Anyways; just my rant.

It "locks" in landscape mode

Dudes!

Hold your iPhone upright. Then turn it ninety degrees in either direction. Then turn it ninety degrees again in the same direction.

Your iPhone is now upside down, but Safari/Mail/et al remains locked in landscape mode. Perfect for browsing or mailing while you're in a horizontal position.

Works on my iPod touch running firmware 3.1 beta.

Peace and love,

Marfmann

I want to be able to turn off Landscape Mode in: Messages, Email, and turn off portrait mode in Video Podcasts [in iPod.]
