Hey, MacRumors Forums.

Y'know, the feature I find myself using the most on my new iPhone 3GS is the Voice Command feature; it goes without saying that the ability to chose an artist/album/playlist from my music library without actually taking my phone out of my pocket is, well, freakin' awesome . The call/dial features are great as well.

As great as these functions are, however, I still wish there were some more voice commands to chose from. The current selection is good, but it could be better. I was surprised to see there were no "What time is it?" or "What day is it today?" commands. It makes me wonder how hard it would be to implement more voice commands in future iPhone OS updates.

Does anyone else have a Voice Command they think Apple should add to the iPhone?

The ability to play certain songs through voice control (i.e. Play song "Say When" by artist "The Fray").

I think it would be cool if you could tell it to open up an app, 3rd party or not

Control of key iPhone settings, like

"Turn Bluetooth On/Off" or "Enable Airplane Mode" or "Enable/Disable VoiceOver"

or how about "Read Unread Email"

Nice one. I always forget the 3G setting since I live in a EDGE only area. That would be perfect.

I would also like to see a control for "Record new voice memo" and have the phone launch Voice Memo and start recording. Maybe also add a "Play[back] last voice memo" to compliment.

Great topic!

I want to be able to create a certain number of customized voice commands. For instance...

  • Command One - "Call Cynthia iPhone"
  • Command Two - "Play Playlist Morning Songs"

This way I won't have to say the whole long command or worry about having to say certain words correctly.

I like the OP's idea of "What time is it?" too.
