Warcraft 3 was working fine on Mountain Lion. I upgraded to Mavericks. Now when I click on Local Area Network to play LAN, it immediately says "Could not connect to the network".

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a way to fix it?

Warcraft 3 uses port 6112. Could Mavericks be using that port or closed off that port?

Thanks!

Battle.net and LAN plan is basically broken in Warcraft III for Mavericks because Apple removed Open Transport from the core services framework. Either Apple puts it back (doubtful since they removed it for one reason or another) or Blizzard has to to write a patch/update for it to work. Due to how old this game is, I wouldn't expect a fix anytime soon, if not, at all.

You might have to look into installing Windows either via Boot Camp or virtualization if you want to play Warcraft.

Warcraft 3 uses Open Transport. Open Transport has been deprecated since 10.1, and was removed in 10.9. That's why net games don't work on the Mac version of Warcraft 3, and due to the age of the game, Blizzard is in no mood to update it for Mavericks.
