Hello, I just have a few concerns about Warcraft 3 running on my new MBP. First issue I have had was getting the computer to recognize that there is a Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne CD in the drive. I have no problems installing the game but when I try to play it the computer asks me to put the already placed CD in the drive. This is just a minor inconvenience since I am able to play the game by copying all of the Warcraft 3 files from my other computer onto the MBP. It's just weird how I was unable to play the game after it had been freshly installed. Secondly, I frequently get disconnected from online games while connected to the internet via an ethernet cable. This is also odd since I regain this connection seconds later. Any ideas?

Are you playing the game in OS X or in Windows through Fusion/Parallels? If through Fusion/Parallels, sometimes the copy protection gets confused thinking you are using a virtual dvd drive. I had Command and Conquer 3 get all pissy with this and refused to run in a virtual environment. In Boot Camp, runs perfect.

Try uninstalling

I have WC3 installed on my MBP 2.4 Ghz and it works great. Try unintalling it and reinstalling the game, also make sure you go online and get the latest updates for the game, it may even help if you update WC3 original before you install Frozen Throne.

Even after reinstalling the game and installing the patches it still doesn't want to load. The error message that pops up is the most ambiguous error I have ever seen on a mac... "Sorry, Warcraft III could not be opened." Alright, but why? Thanks for the replies

Don't need Boot Camp since Warcraft CDs are usable with Windows or Mac

PAL as the 1st hero VS Ud

PAL(Paladin) as Hum the 1st hero is one of tendency when vsing UD.
Now I summarize some warcraft 3 strategies about this play style.

Match maps: EI,TS and 1on1 maps
Match races:UD
The 1st hero: PAL
Hero ability: 1.Holy Light -2.Divine Shield -3.Holy Light -4.Divine Shield -5.Holy Light
Build order: Altar - Barracks -Lumber Mill -another base -Shop -Blacksmith -Workshop -Gryphon Aviary.
Main units: Siege Engine,Flying Machine,Knight,Gryphon Rider.

Tactic processes:

The first stage:

Four peasants harvest gold, one build the Altar at this same time training more peasants, the 6th build Farm, the 7th build Barracks, the 8th set up Farm, the 9th go to harvest gold, then 10 -13 peasants harvest timber ,then build 5 - 6 Footman.

Quickly clearing up the creeps guarding Mercenary Camps or Goblin Laboratory, when PAL is born.If it is all right
,PAL should be level 2.You could consider to buy some mercenaries to compare with UD.When UD run away, send your Footman and Militia to exploit another gold mine. Now PAL must be level 3,if not, creeping some little creeps to reach it.

It is the time to build Lumber Mill at main base,if lumber is not enough for the Militia creeping at early stage, you can buy a Goblin Shredder to help if the map have Goblin Laboratory.

The middle stage:

This stage is to defend your main base and the 2nd base.So build 3-4 towers is necessary, remember to upgrade a Arcane Tower and others is to Guard Tower.UD player must be constant harassing. Thus HUM must hold out till the tower and the second base is finished. When the tower and the 2nd base is over,Set up a shop at main base or your second base, upgrade level 1 city defense at Lumber Mill, and start to tech to tier 2.

Level 3 PAL armed with Boots of Speed,Potion of Invisibility and Staff of Teleportation is shocking for UD.PAL With Potion of Invisibility sneak into UD main base to kill Acolytes. You have level 2 Holy Light, cheers for this, ahahah.Kill Ghouls is a good idea too.At the same time,HUM have got to tier 2,build your Blacksmith, and go on building towers at main base and the second base till each have 7-9 towers .You always have to build towers to defend UD's harassment.

The development stage:

At the middle stage,If UD TP's,PAL can use Divine Shield or Staff of Teleportation to save oneself.Let him return to heal up and does those again and again. When have reached tier 2 ,don't hesitate to upgrade to tier 3 and summon the second hero MK (Mountain King).

PAL and MK two-Line action : PAL always harass and Mk with several units go to creep. At the half time of reaching tier 3,put down two or three Workshops and output Siege Engines or Flying Machines,at the same time upgrade Black Gunpowder to level 3.Once you have 3 Siege Engines upgrading Barrage as soon as possible.Researching level 3 city defense when you tech to tier 3.Ok let's build more and more Siege Engines till have 6-7.

The fighting in the late

Now let's look at our army,6-7 Siege Engines or two group of Flying Machines. If your elementary untis is less you can train several Knights and Gryphon Riders.but it is doesn't matter for the whole army.YOU! have level 3 attack and level 3 defense Siege Engine.Order them to destroy UD's main base.GG!

Questions:

It is for sure that we have not enough lumber for we build 2-3 Workshops. So let your main base and the second base both have Lumber Mill and upgrade Lumber Harvesting and at least 8 peasants harvest lumber. If the map have the Goblin Laboratory, it is a good idea to buy a Goblin Shredder to help harvest lumber.

Tactic flaws:

1.Don't let your PAL drop dead, may be one death is the whole failed.
2.Know clear that whether your opponent mass destroyers,if right, massing more Towers is necessary or your second base will be fall.
