Warm water on mac ok?

Ok, so I think my mac is emo or something because I keep finding marks on it... a small scratch on the top and a lil nick here and there... no idea why...

anyways, i noticed something on my screen, i was like "OH GOD A SCRATCH"... but it seems to be some gunk that hardened on it (no idea how... i keep it in a case, i have a screensavrz... i protect it like crazy)

anyways, it seems to be on there pretty good... my omnicleanz can't get it all... seems like i may need a bit of warm water or something to loosen it... is that ok?

or any other ideas?

matte screen or whatever... non-glossy

Damp cloth, no water please

It doesn't seem to be coming off.. how could it be a scratch?... it seems like it may be getting smaller... idk =(

Damp cloth, nothing dripping, and don't use any cleaning products. Just rub at it until it goes away, if it really is just stuck on.

some of it seems to have cleaned off, but there is definately a scratch... any idea how to patch it?
