So I was all excited for my 42mm Baseus leather band to come tomorrow. When I got this message from the seller. Luckily, they will be reimbursing me for the cost to ship it back to China. Just wanted to warn everyone not to buy these things as I'm sure there are plenty of sellers who don't care about the recall and will still sell them. Here's link to the item.

Dear customer,

How are you? Hope everything is going well!

We have sent you the item earlier and we have been informed by Baseus today that they will recall the watch band for APPLE Watch. This is because they found that there's a design defect that in some circumstance, the band might loose and the watch might fall. As a responsible seller, we have to inform you immediately and STOP you from using the band.

When you receive the item, please DO NOT use the item and return it to us. As a compensation, please open the package and take the small gift, it should be a TPU case for APPLE watch baring accident. Please send the case to us using the most economical method and please do provide the tracking number, or if it’s not available, please attached a picture of the receipt and we will issue you a full refund including the return shipping costs.

We are terribly sorry about this issue and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kind Regard

Thanks for the heads up!! Was looking at some of their stuff. Wonder how many of these other ones on eBay suffer the same issues... Maybe it'll be wise to wait for the 'made for apple watch' ones to come out...

Yup, this is why we need to wait for "Made for the Apple Watch" lugs or staps...

The most amazing thing about this is that a Chinese company is actually taking responsibility for their products.

Seems as though they're actually attempting to establish a quality brand. I should be receiving the band today and will ship it right back to China. I'm not only amazed at the manufacturer, but also at the eBay seller who could have just as easily not said a word about it.

Oh, I didn't realize that the message was from an eBay seller. That's even more amazing. That and they're letting you keep the free gift. Wow.

Yeah I definitely lucked out with this seller. Which is why I pay close attention to feedback scores before ordering anything from ebay or aliexpress. Once my refund is processed I will be leaving them very good feedback.

between this and the monowear delay I'm happy I decided to wait on the sidelines before buying a third party strap. Waiting sucks but I really do like the BSB.

I got the HOCO stainless band and I actually love it. But at this point I will also wait for a little while before getting anymore third party bands.

oh i meant on my leather ones, sorry! i did buy that link band -- it looks great on yours so i can't wait for it to arrive!

Ohhh yeah the leather ones are mismatched, and you can tell by the photos. That's why I didn't buy one, even though I really like the design. I'm surprised they chose to make those buckles gold, it doesn't look right.

yeah i ordered the leather ones because they were cheap but then i found the ROCK ones which apparently have a silver buckle so i'll keep both. they all look nicer than the sport band so i'm happy. :)

I'd be interested to know what exactly is failing on the product. Is it where it connects to the watch? Or where the band connects to the adapter?

Also: I've seen a lot of sellers cancelling orders for bands and adapters or asking for extra money on top of original orders to cope with higher demand. Do you think it's possible this seller is doing the same?

I don't think so, because he will be paying for around $15 return shipping in addition to the what I paid for the band. But on the other hand maybe you're on to something, because I can't find anything on the internet about it.
