Doing the new update to 11.0.1 turned off iCloud Music Library and deleted all the local music off my phone. Thanks Apple. I now have 70GB worth of music to redownload, very annoyed!

Very strange, I'm seeing similar things too - however, I recently jumped on the 11.1 public beta. Whenever downloading the first iteration of beta software, something strange happens to my Music app. This time, it randomly threw everything into an unknown album with random cover art. Needless to say, I had to delete it and am finishing re-adding everything. Not a big deal for me since I only have 540 songs, but still annoying.

I was just about to install the beta but now I’m hesitant as I just got done downloading 3000 songs. I need to just make a playlist with all of my music and be able to hit one button vs going through everything one by one.

Just a tip: You can turn off iCloud Music Library on your iPhone, then sync your music to the phone with iTunes. This happens locally, and is MUCH faster than downloading 70GB over the network.

Then when you turn on iCloud Music Library, it will take a while to sync metadata but won't have to re-download any of the music you just synced.

Mine stayed on and upgraded without issue. Were you low on space? I wonder if it somehow decided that is what it was going to overwrite when it downloaded the OS update.

Yep! I tried to add music to my watch this morning before heading to the gym. Poof! All of my playlists and downloaded songs were gone from my phone.

Thanks for the tip. I don’t actually have any music stored locally on my MacBook either. I never don’t access to WiFi when using it so it seemed pointless to store my Apple Music library locally when I can just stream and save space on my SSD. But that’s useful to know as an option.

Not a bad idea! I typically just sync everything via iTunes and it handles it one batch - I don't have to click one by one thankfully, even with 540 songs I'd go nuts haha. I honestly have no idea why it did what it did, it's so odd; that being said, I still wouldn't say having an issue is a guarantee.

Go Wings!

Same here with my iPhone 6 Plus, iCloud Music Library disabled after updating to 11.0.1. Updating my iPad Air 2 without problems, iCloud Music Library still enabled.
