Warped inside plastic around keyboard on MacBook

Just wondering, i noticed on my macbook that looking at it from the front, the plastic that your hands rest on is a uneven to the left of the track pad near the corner. What i mean is that it appears to come up off the edge a little bit and there is a small gap between it and the bottom of the computer. This probably wouldn't be too visable on the black version.

Also, this might sound a little weird, but underneat the screen it looks like there is some plastic sticking out, almost like not all of the protective plastic was take off of the hinge before attaching it to the screen piece, anyone else experience this?

Actually, it's interesting that others are seeing this...I was playing with a white MB yesterday at my local Apple store and realized that the plastic border that frames the screen was warped in that *EXACT* same way to the left and right of the hinge. I tried pressing it back in and it popped right back out.

That plastic is really quite flexible as compared to the harder glossy shell. It seems to be the same material from which the hand rest/keyboard area is made. It actually seems, in many ways, to be similar to Teflon...(I work with sheet and block teflon quite often in my lab and noticed it almost immediately).

Definitely unacceptable right out of the box. I've seen similar things after a few months/years of wear and tear, but nothing like this on a brand new machine. Demand an exchange.

u think that's bad? the entire left side of my MB looks like that.....and of course i'm taking it back tomorrow....

From the position of the warped plastic on the MB, it looks like heat from the hard disk is causing it to do that. Maybe the CPU temps of the MB isn't all people should worry about?

^^^No, the HD is on the right-hand side of the computer, directly to the right of the trackpad. Please, no more speculation.....jeez...we already have enough mis-informed ideas around the MB floating around here

Before you go about getting a replacement, I suggest you retighten it yourself by pressing applying pressure then screwing it in. That's how i fixed most of my fitment issues, but if that doesn't work, go take it back and get it replaced. Also, heat plays a huge role, see the warping difference under heat and w/o.
