I am currently making a listing in ebay for my macbook because i want to upgrade to a mbp so my question is if i purchased my computer directly from apple.com I think in November (as soon as the c2ds came out). can i write in the listing, still under warranty? does apple keep tabs of the serial numbers when they sell the systems or would the potential buyer need a receipt to get it fixed if need be? Thanks..

A receipt provides the exact date of purchase, where as the serial number gives the build week which may be a bit before you bought the laptop.

But I haven't bought anything directly from Apple before - only through other retail outlets (we don't have an Apple store in Scotland yet..) so I'm not sure on what other details Apple take from you for your year's worth of Apple Care.

When I have a question like that, I call the company and tell them I am giving item in question to a friend.
