My wife had the battery in her iPhone 5 replaced, under the extended battery replacement warranty (https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/), back in September.

Now, seven months later, her battery is acting up again - battery strength dropping in large increments, without an apparent reason. There has been no change in her usage pattern, in terms of apps used, location where phone is used, etc.

We've tried the usual suggestions, such as letting the battery go dead, then doing a full recharge, to re-calibrate the charge meter. Nothing seems to help.

Looking at the Apple site, it appears that the warranty on the new battery is only 90 days. Is that correct?

Does anyone have any other suggestions, or experience with this issue?

Apple's warranty is 90 days. However, it won't do any harm by taking it back to the Apple Store and explaining to them about the battery. They may decide to replace it again for no charge, otherwise it will cost $79. You can always replace it yourself for a lot less but there's always the risk of breaking something if you're not careful. Instructions for replacing the battery yourself can be found at www.ifixit.com.

If I were silly enough to try to change the battery myself, it would be the end of my wife's phone.
We may go to the Genius Bar and talk to them, as you suggest.

My wife has also been talking about getting an SE, so we may go that route, instead.
