...now I'm worried. Don't get me wrong; I love the phone, and I would love to add a second one to my other line with AT&T, but now I am worried that a 2nd gen model is on the horizon.

Initially I thought the phone would be released as 2.5G in the states at a price of $599 and would stay that was for at least the first year. I don't mind upgrading every year or 2.

A price cut 2 months into launch and speculation of a 3G phone for Europe now has me saying "why bother, even with the price cut"?

Anyone else have similar feelings? I think the price cut did more to boost uncertainty than to boost sales...

My plan is too wait till the next gen comes out and give my old one to my wife! :)

I have the same plan. I already told her (girlfriend, not wife) that when the 2nd generation comes out, that she will be getting my old one. She doesn't have a problem with this.

I wouldn't expect a 2nd generation iphone until next year, like Juneish.

...now I'm worried.

I think the comment has been made already: if you worry about what's going to happen tomorrow, then you'll never buy anything new.

Don't buy anything because it's the "newest thing." Only buy something if it suits your needs. Does the current iPhone model suit your needs? If so, get another one. If not, wait or just don't get one. No matter what you get, it's going to be obsolete the moment you open the box. That's what technology is about.

No; that is not what technology is about. An admittedly unjustified price point, a $200 price drop in a 2 month period (with no hardware upgrade announce), and the possibility of a 2nd gen phone literally right around the corner?

I understand things in the tech lane move fast, but it sounds like you're drinking Steve's kool-aid. Apple f'd up on this one. Big time.
