Live in Arlington and have a 3gs and have almost zero issues with call quality or dropped calls. With the exception of the drive to work down constitution va around the state department. Have a friend that is having issues and was wondering others experiences.

What are others experiences ? Thanks

Last summer I had a lot of dropped calls... Now I just get dropped data. 3G will show full bars but no connection. I drop to Edge and GPRS all the time...

Sucks.

But, seeing as it is the i"PHONE" I'm happier now that I can make more reliable calls (not to mention in the metro now :D).

I usually have excellent coverage in DC. The data network was down for me a lot about a month ago, I would have no data coverage 12 hours out of the day.

I live in Arlington as well. I've been getting fewer dropped calls in the last couple months, but when I first got the phone in June I had quite a few dropped calls. Even 1 is too many in my mind, but at least I've been LESS frustrated lately. Plus having use in some stations in the metro has been nice.

Zero dropped calls in DC/MD/VA. Been very happy with ATT.

I could only be happier if it was as cheap as Sprint... Other than that data dropping out every so often isn't too big of a deal. It's usually momentary and I just switch to airplane mode and back.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

I had a 2G iPhone in DC for a year and never dropped a call. Data was good too, for edge that is.

Initially pretty bad out in the Centreville area, though the replacement phone I got is improved. No dropped calls yet, although I've had some issues with texting this evening.

My voice has never been a problem at all, the only issue I have is with data off and on. My experience with voice has been perfect. And, when 3G is out Edge is just fine.

I'm in the fairfax area and I get pretty good coverage. except that data doesn't work sometimes even if it says I have full signal--3G is super slow

I have dropped calls in my office near the Nationals Stadium and in the condo in Alexandria.

I am however now getting service on the platforms while waiting on the train...that is new...

I am paying $20-23 more a month to have a iPhone over my T-mobile non-data account. So thats not bad considering I get to use a premium device, the price I think comes with it.

ATT is more expensive than T-mobile, but T-mobile coverage is limited to the metro areas. So there is a compromise or price I pay for that.

I was getting a lot of dropped calls in MD, from downtown Silver Spring down 29 going toward baltimore. Also, a ton of dropped calls on 695 in Baltimore, and 495 in MD. I called Att and was told that there was a major tower down that services this area. It had been down for several months. Seems unacceptable to me to let a major problem like that remain unresolved. That one tower was probably servicing about 3 million people or more. Anyway, the service has suddenly become better, so guess the tower has been serviced.

I spoke too soon. Last night I was having all my calls drop. I would call and it would just be silent. No ringing or anything. Other side got the calls and didn't hear me either.

Same with receiving calls... Very frustrating. Took a couple tries just to get through.

This happens to me ALL the time in Arlington. I even got a message saying that they upgraded a tower in my neighborhood (Country Club Hills) but I've seen zero benefit from that upgrade. I'd say I probably get 1 or 2 out of every 20 calls dropped. Honestly, it doesn't bother me too much as the iphone is not my primary work or home phone.

I live in NW DC and work in Georgetown. I notice dropped calls by both the Russian Embassy on Tunlaw and by Montrose Park. Other than that, my cell/data service is pretty good.

I live N of Mt Pleasant on 16th and can't get service in my place, but that's another story. Work on K St downtown is fine, as is most of the rest of the city.

When they plugged my original phone in it was showing between 25%-44% drop rate over the past two weeks, and the Genius said that it was 'nothing out of the ordinary'.

it's one of the reasons I've been looking at the MOTO Droid for Verizon since apparently they get great service but I can't let go of my iPhone I like it too much :(
