I seem to recall a few months back articles about how Apple had to switch companies making lens unit as their contracted one had problems with auto focus or just focus and acceptable rate of manufacture per unit.

It was pretty widely reported but I see no mention of it now with camera issue. Since Apple appeared to put it towards 3rd party app…

They went with a different smaller company according to what I read. This was before June I believe and it said failure rates were unacceptable.

I’m looking for it now but I know I read it at this site too.

Just odd as we now have camera issues no matter what anyone blamed it on.

Not everyone has the camera issues, I’d guess it seems a big deal as YouTube and forums like this are reporting cases, but it’s not as widespread as people are making out.

Well no one is and I have yet to see the you tube everyone’s is referencing. No need to I see it first hand on my own.

But you are fooling yourself if you think it’s not widespread.
Cause it is.

Apple didn’t respond to nonsense hype they responded to a clear problem effecting enough of us to get a “fix” out in less than the week claimed.
I can only speak of what it’s doing to my camera.

Now with regards to my post here the camera manufacturer problem was big enough to get press from the industry and the article referenced 10 million units changed because of a defective coating of some sorts.

Confused, is there a theory that a lens supplier relates to the autostabilization bug that was fixed in 16.0.2?

Well if you check the thread on that “bug” it didn’t fix everyone’s issue.
Myself and others still get audible click opening IG camera.

So remembering the camera issue from article here months back and if it’s related in any way.
Apple had to change like 10 million units to a different manufacturer according to article. It mentions a coating. Trying to find out of exactly what.

Right, if you saw the videos, the problem the fix was for was the rapid shaking and intense sound, I don’t think individual clicks have been identified as a bug

Thanks… this has nothing to do with my thread.

And yes I have now viewed one of many videos.

But Apple Support, myself and other users say it is.

Link to apple support saying it’s an issue? Just FYI you and “other users” don’t really count.

FWIW, I haven’t had any issues with the camera on my 14PM, but the new minimum focus distance took me a bit to get used to.

Thru support chat today.
Glad you have no issues.

Yes the change is focus was a bit different from 13. Still getting used to the “2” choice.

There is what a 9 page thread on this or there was this morning. In it there are others with same thing.

This thread is not questioning that.

Gotcha. So a bunch of people are complaining, as usual, and you heard from ~someone~ at Apple support who supposedly confirmed this issue.

Thanks.

No I was told it didn’t seem like a normal response for the camera and they will look into and get me options on what to do.

Instead of being a smart ass why not add something on topic?

Better yet don’t.

It had nothing to do with autofocus issues or camera performance, it was about the durability of the lens itself.

Thank you. I wanted that article and only found one that paraphrased from it.

Appreciate you clearing that up.

On another note some of the responses to it are funny as heck.
