Watch bands and chlorine?

I plan on starting swimming this coming Friday and will be taking my Apple Watch Series 3. I have no worries about the watch itself however I am worried that the chlorine may affect the bands?

I understand that the leather and stainless steel bands are not suitable for water exposure, however, I only plan on using my sport bands anyway. We all know that chlorine can cause discolouration. I’m worried that my soft white sport band may be affected? I’ll be sure to rinse it properly after each swim.

Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience of regular swimming with their sport bands?

The Sport bands are highly durable. They are made of flueroastamer, which literally is a material that does not fade, they don't break down or start to fall apart. They are almost entirely indestructible. They are made for all types of environments and you will have no issues in the pool with Apples OEM sport bands.

Thanks. I’ve had issues with the white bands in the past with dye coming off clothing and permanently staining the bands which is what is leading me to worry about the chlorine. Apple replaced them free of charge.

Third party sport bands are decent but their comfort and durability don't match up to the Apple sport bands.

Wearing the Edition model I have experienced oh crap moments with 3rd party bands failures; 2 of the 3 were the Nike knock offs.

Perhaps have a dedicated band or two for swimming.

On that note the new sport loop bands and woven nylon are very comfortable as well.

Completely agree. I was one that owns third-party sport bands and even though they resemble the Apple Watch sport bands, quality wise, they do not match at all. They are thinner, not as supple, and certainly are not Apple quality standards. The sport bands are not cheap, but you do receive a better product that is well made.

I own one knock-off Sport Band in Yellow, and four Apple Sport Bands - original S0 Green, original Orange, Nike Black/Volt and Orbit Blue.

While I like the Yellow band, it serves one purpose now and it's to remind me not to waste money on Sport Band knock-offs. No matter how cheap and nice they look on a webpage, they are not great to wear when compared to Apple's. They're not as comfortable, and just attracts fluff.

The milanese knock off bands served one purpose for me, to help me decide I would never buy the apple version.
The only advantage of the knock offs have is the color availability.
This weekend I plan to sort through all my bands and get rid of the knock offs.

The true nike bands are very sweet.
The new woven nylon bands are incredibly comfortable.
The sport loop bands are nice. I have the black one. The feel is nice. Not my flavor though. Excellent band though.

Both the woven nylon and sports loop are so lightweight comfortable I forget the watch is on.

If I'm reading your post right, you will only buy original Apple bands except for Milanese? I was 100% original Apple bands (have about 10) until I got a knock-off Milanese yesterday. It was very impressive for $6! Would be hard to spend $150 on the Apple version after trying the $6 one. I was impress with the low price points as well.
The slippage of the bands led to what seemingly became frequent adjustments. This perpetuated my OCD and took on the characteristics of a baseball player unnecessarily adjusting their gloves between pitches.
I can't wear a wedding band because I subconsciously spin is around on my finger.

Did I mention the bunching of the band when removed? Its like trying to remove a knot in a plastic bag.

Maybe the knock off milanese have improved. What I found on the 4 I have was the outside links would break and become worse and snag on sweat shirts and jacket cuffs.

I have no desire to purchase another linked band.

Quality & knock offs shouldn't be used together.

The magnets don't hold well to the band, the magnets tend to also stick to other medals instead of just the band itself on the underside. They're see thru do to the shoddy craftsmanship. The links break, they scratch up easily, and they kink up when removed to charge. They aren't even real stainless steel. Colors don't match properly to the Apple colors. If you bought the Stainless steel black or even silver models. The black knockoffs look dull more matte, and the silver knockoffs look more nickel-ish. Besides why put such cheap trash on expensive jewelry. Maybe if you bought the aluminum watch you can justify it looking tacky and off. But not on the stainless steel one. It just looks bad.

I can't remember if I bought an early sample a couple of years ago when the Milanese knock-offs first came out. The one I got late last year is great. Wearing it right now! Will they last as long as Apple's? You'd hope not!
