Verizon doesn't have preorders until Friday just like the iPhone 14, but does anyone know how the Cellular thing is going to work with them?

Will Verizon have the option to be GPS only?

Just curious since the Ultra is GPS and/or Cellular.

I am pretty sure there's only a cellular version.
That makes sense. Not sure why I assumed they would give you the option. Any of the cellular watches before had GPS in them so this is the same setup.

They did state the Ultra would only come as Cellular ready, In the past you could purchase GPS only or GPS with Cellular which was more expensive, the Ultra is GPS with Cellular only, no option for just GPS. That's probably why you assumed you would have an option, in the past the always had the option. Good Day

I didn't mean separate models, I was aware it was cellular only with GPS.

For whatever reason I thought Verizon would give you the option of using GPS only and skip the added $10 line fee, but then they wouldn't be making any money. Oh well.

Perhaps this helps then, I took this from myhealthyapple.com:

An Apple Watch GPS+Cellular or Ultra does not need to have a data plan to work for you. You can use a cellular Apple Watch without buying a cellular carrier's cellular plan! If you don't sign up for a cellular plan on your cellular version, you can use your watch like the GPS-only model.

I hope this helps

You dont HAVE to get cellular to use the watch. Verizon may not want to sell you one without it but it is not a requirement.

If you buy it through Verizon, they require a new line of service. I just checked on their site to confirm. The only way to use it as GPS only is to buy it from Apple or some other retailer that lets you skip it.

Yep. My preorder went that way this morning. Mine is $5/mo based on my phone plan. But, I can cancel that extra line later if I choose. I did that with my iPad.

I bought GPS series 8 direct from Apple on their veterans page and saved 10% off the list price. I just don't see the reason to have a cell line when my iPhone is in my pocket and paying extra for the cell and GPS version
