watching video from ipad on my tv

I was testing last night with video. I am using the Apple component cables to my lcd.

I could watch movies using the video app
I could watch Youtube videos
I could watch pictures from the Photos app

I could not watch Netflix via the app
I could not watch ABC via the app.

Has anyone else had this experience? Any ideas on how to get the Netflix and ABC to play?

This has been posted on here before. I believe they came up with the conclusion that the developers did not put in the functionality to utilize the video out feature that the iPad has.
