Heard some rumours, it's going to be today. Anyone going to install it?

I will (S5 Titanium).

Not a chance on July 4 in the US. Slim chance tomorrow maybe but I think it is more likely we will get one more developer only beta and then public beta in 2 weeks.

Did you install? If so, is everything working?
Yes. I installed watchos9 and ios16.

I have installed many beta versions over the years but these seem pretty solid.

WatchOS9 works great. No reboots, not one issue so far and battery life is great. Battery health went from 82 to 84%.

Sleep tracking is great, native exercise is much better. I don’t need a Fitbit anymore. Finally

IOS16 is the same. Works great, battery life is superb, no crashes and all my apps work. Honestly, they are both great so far for dev betas.

I'd love to hear more about what makes the native Exercise app so much better! Is it the tracking, the interface, or something else?

is it possible to install WatchOS public Beta without having iOS Beta on my iPhone?

I would easily risk the stability of my watch but not my phone

For me it's exactly the opposite ;-)
But no, it's not possible to have a newer version of watchOS without the corresponding iOS Version on the iPhone. Works the other way round though.

There is more data and exercise zones. Sleep tracking is actually useful now.

I have used all the betas in the past but so far, no issues with the dev ios16 or watchOS beta. Usually I would have poor battery life and many reboots on the Watch.

Not this time. Both are working flawlessly.

Just so you can’t say you weren’t warned. The watchOS 9 beta has significantly impacted my battery life For the worse (45mm Series 7). Before the beta I would finish the day with 10% left and after, I can’t make it a full day any more. Same deal with my 44mm Series 5 on watchOS 9.

To me the hit to battery life is not a big deal because I just switch to a different watch. But otherwise, watchOS 9 has been very stable and no reboots at all. And I love the new colored backgrounds for the Modular face.

Mine is the opposite. It's either the same or better.

I don't have any 3rd party apps, all the stock ones are perfect for my needs.

So, something worth checking. Is it one of those causing the issue?

I figured out the cause of my battery drainge on watch OS 9. I canceled my cellular service with AT&T and immediately my battery life improved by a huge margin. watchOS 9 is triggering some kind of cellular malfunction that is sapping batteries. Or maybe it is one app that is using cellular when it shouldn’t.

Beta is released for public use. I have never installed previously since you can't downgrade.

I'll probably continue to wait

Did you mention what Apple Watch you have? If not please do so and does running power work on your model. Thanks
