If we reset fitness calibration data on Apple Watch with Tap the My Watch tab, then tap Privacy > Reset Fitness Calibration Data, does the Apple Watch re-calibrate itself subsequently with an outdoor workout.
Does the watchOS need re-installation for it to start re-calibration, or does it automatically do it with an outdoor run/ walk subsequent to a reset of calibration data.

Another question: If after a fresh installation of watchOS on Apple Watch the first workout is an indoor workout and not outdoor workout, then does the Apple Watch calibrate itself correctly if after few indoor workouts the first outdoor workout is performed. Or is it mandatory that the first workout after a fresh install of watchOS must necessarily be an outdoor workout.

First thing, you can't reinstall watchOS. Also, the document is pretty clear on what's needed to recalibrate your Apple Watch (You need a GPS signal for the recalibration).

By reinstalling watchOS I mean unpairing and re-pairing the watch with iPhone.

My question on recalibration is about one aspect about the process of recalibration, which is not evident from the apple support website.

Does the watchOS need unpairing and re-pairing with iPhone for it to start re-calibration, or does it automatically do it with an outdoor run/ walk subsequent to a reset of calibration data.

Just to reiterate, it does not need unpair/repair. I did recalibration once, a long time ago, with a Series 2.

Also note that the watch is always adjusting calibration when you do an outdoor run or outdoor walk workout when it can, not just after resetting the calibration.
