This is my first ever attempt at photographing water. I am not completely pleased with my results. I would like to make them better. If someone could point out what I did wrong that would be great.

That second picture didn't save correctly. Here is the correct iphoto adjusted picture.

It looks like in both photos you've blown out the center w/ the sun's reflection.

Is that what you don't like?

I think of all subjects water needs to be shot with a level camera or lacking that straightened in Photoshop. But that is just my opinion. Also with a digital camera you have to expose for the highlights. Does your camera have a histogram display. Look at that next time and keep the highlights under control.
