Is there an easy way to add work shifts to iPhone calendar?

I know there are various apps for work schedules and shifts, but I prefer to open iPhone calendar, click on the date, see what shift I’m on, and if anything else is happening that day.

I don’t want to have to add manually everyday what shift I’m on as it’s a pattern most of the time.

Yes you can do it using the Custom "Repeat Every..." function. I work a jumbled mess of Day/Night shifts that ultimately repeats every 28 days. Start by entering today's shift and (in my case) select Repeat Every 4 Weeks (or 28 Days). Then enter tomorrow's and do the same thing. You'll quickly see your calendar filling-up into the future as you go. You might find it easier to use the iCloud.com web interface to get this loaded, which will automatically sync to all your devices. FYI when I was done I saved it as an .ics and shared it with my co-workers who thought I was a genius LOL.

I seen that option but my shifts are not regular, so Monday day work this week, next week start on a Tuesday etc, so it’s not repeatable really.

I can do on Mac, but again it’s manual adding every day

Would copy and paste be helpful in this case? I have a repeating pattern that goes Bi-weekly so I only needed to make one event for each type of shift, copy and paste it to applicable days, and then set an every 2 weeks repeat pattern for each event. Once that was done it hasn’t been touched in many years. The repeat function is very flexible and customizable, so if you can find a pattern somewhere, perhaps this may be a helpful approach. The Mac app frustratingly has all the advantage over the iOS app, especially with alert types. Shift work is challenging for sure, but I have all my needs covered with the native app. Good luck.

It’s going to depend on which format you’re provided your schedule. For example, my current employer has an app as well as posts a printed version of the staff shift schedules. Beyond the app, I use Scanner Pro to make a PDF of the printed versions. Scanner Pro has an OCR function, which is fairly reliable on capturing the shift times for each day. While apps such as Preview recognize the time periods and allows easy event creation, the schedule format of days as columns doesn’t allow Preview to associate the day with the time slot. So, ultimately, I do manual calendar event entries. Another option might be a calendar subscription. One last method that comes to mind is spreadsheet to calendar, although, I’m not sure if this would be any less effort or time consuming.

If it’s a truly random start day every week… I don’t see any way to automate that, unless your employer sets up a shared calendar you can subscribe to.
