I would like iWork to auto sync (or at least offer the option). This way I can work on my iPad or Mac Pro and not have to remember which is which and go through file uploading or downloading process. Nots is a perfect example of the way iWork should work. Is there a way to do this?

Not yet, but it's probably coming. You can export documents to iWork.com if you use that.

Sorry, no not yet. Let's say you want to modify a pages file that is sitting on your desktop. You can copy it to the iPad while it is connected to usb or you can drop it on the iPad via wifi if you are running goodreader, air sharing or another such program, or you can go fetch it from the iPad using goodreader, etc. Once it's on the iPad you have to "import" it to Pages on the iPad. What you see in Pages is no longer connected to the "file" you might see sitting in goodreader or another app's file list. When you export it from Pages, you get the option to export it to a "file" but the only way you can get to that file is via usb. The other 2 options are email and iwork.com. I prefer email because it doesn't involve my private document sitting on a server. It's just a personal preference. Apple promised "better email attachment handling" with OS 4 but they are very tight-lipped about how it will be done. For now, we are stuck with this laborious process and we are forced to think about which version of which file is the latest. I, for one wish Apple would add iWork sync to MobileMe.

I ended up using iWork.com as well. It's free, has 1 gigabyte of space, and lets me work on documents from my iMac, MacBook, or iPad.

If it's not something that is sensitive I shall probably go the iWork route too, but I'd much rather some integration to MobileMe/iDisk be implemented. Sensitive files I shall probably use goodreader or similar.
The workarounds are tedious at best.
