Hi, We have one iphone (mine) and two ipads (used by my children) all connected to the same icloud account. Originally I had icloud turned off for the ipad photos, but my son likes to make videos and was filling up his memory really quickly, so I have had to turn on icloud photos for his ipad. The problem is that I now can't use the camera on my phone for anything potentially private (nothing dodgy, but as an example, I took some photos of ideas for his Christmas presents without remembering he'd see them the other day and have kind of ruined christmas, and I often use my camera to photograph documents for work that are reasonably confidential too). So now I'm looking for an option for how to backup the photos on the kids ipads and free up space on their devices without his also have access to all my photos. Is there any way I can do this? Or will I need to set up a new icloud account for the kids?

Don't share iCloud photos. The iPads should have their own iCloud account (ID/login)... set them up as children on your iCloud sharing... each should then get their own iCloud photos storage as a part of your iCloud storage account... each should have full privacy protection for their photos...
