Hi,

I'm very new to Mac, so I apologize if this is a dumb question.

One function I'm trying to replicate from PC, is the automatic preview of all images in a folder when you click on one. To explain - if I have 10 photos saved in a sub-folder, and I double click the first picture to view it, it opens in preview, but only that one image. There is no automatic ability to scroll the images like in the main photos library ( ie. with the arrows on the right and left side of the image ).

Is there a way to set my system so that it always pulls up all images in a folder for preview? Or a setting to do this?

Ty in advance - Cheers!

P.

There is no setting, but instead of opening the file you could just press space and QuickLook pops up, now the cursor is still in the Finder window and the cursor keys will move to the next file and QuickLook will show that next file. That means if you are in list view in Finder, press cursor down to view the next file. In icon view it gets a bit weird when you need to select the next row.
Tab key will always select the next file sorted by name, ignoring the sorting in Finder.

Not you're fault but you're trying to do it the 'PC way'.
Use spacebar to Quickview them, and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll up and down the files.
When you get used to using Quickview to instantly view photos and other content without having to double-click a file to literally open it in an app, it quickly becomes SUPER !!!!ING FRUSTRATING that Windows doesn't have an equivalent, when like me you're crippled with using a PC for 40 hours of your week.

Another way is have the Preview app in your Dock and drag the folder of pics onto to it. Preview will open all pics in the folder with a large view and thumbnails, and play a slide show if desired. This also works dragging top level folder of a nest of folders.

And yet another way, if you want to use Preview, just select all the documents and double click the group of them. All of them open in a single Preview window that makes it easy to page through them all.

You could also increase the size of the icons in icon view which may make previewing unnecessary.

Another option to view all of your photos a little bit "Windows way"

Just highlight files you want to view, like 20 of them and click spacebar to open preview, in the upper bar you will find arrows to proceed forward to next one in your highlight and backward if needed via clicking on them.

I personally use List view and preview files with spacebar navigating up/down from keyboard

Well, this is a different question but it is related to one of these methods, and I haven't found a solution anywhere else. If I have a folder of images and drag that folder onto the preview icon in the dock, by default the images seem to be sorted randomly in the preview app window. Is there a way that I can drag the images folder onto the app icon and, by default, have the images sort by name, starting with the first image and scrolling down? Thanks in advance.
