I recently replaced a lost iphone. Just after jailbreaking the new iphone at home, it crashed and would not boot again. I was forced to restore to 3.1.3 because I had just jailbroken and did not back my phone up.

What are ways people have returned their iphones for an exchange? I want to try and get another 3.1.2 iphone this weekend before they are all gone.

Thanks.

It cracks me up to see people over reacting about questions like this. I was having an issue with the bottom half of the screen. When I took it in to get looked at the screen was reacting fine. The tech replaced it anyway. If I had to get my phone replaced, I would tell the tech i was having the same problem.

Nope. Not overreacting. Just tired of the basement kids messing up jailbreaking their phone and want the company to suck up their problem. If the OP didn't post up the "look at me" excuses, then it would have been a legit question.

how did one mess up jailbreaking?
plug phone in, click, wait til phone reboots. did I miss something.

all else fails, power phone on, hold home button and connect to the computer, repeat as required.

I JB'ed with Blackra1n, and unlocked with Sn0w, and everything went perfect (took under 5 minutes). But then when I downloaded Veency from Cydia, it forced a reboot and I could not get Blackra1n to work again. Tried it like 10 times. Tried RedSn0w. Tried it on 2 different PCs. Nothing. Had to restore and got 3.1.3 shoved down my throat by iTunes .

Is that a reason to return? NO!

The only reason the OP is posting is because he's now lost his jailbreak capability and wants a new phone that may have v3.1.2...or am I wrong?

First, my phone was lost/stolen on deployment while my bag was being offloaded from a military transport plane. I did not do anything wrong while jailbreaking. I just didn't back up the ipsw before it locked up while I was updating the cydia resources. That isn't very long from initial unlock so it wasn't expected. Finally, I do want to return my phone solely for the 3.1.2 software because I think it's crap to force an upgrade and acceptence of new terms by denying the re-installation of 3.1.2 software solely to deny people fuller functionality with a jailbroken phone.

Bottom line, I can also return for $50 and will for a chance to get the old software if I cannot exchange it.
