For those of us that use Waze it's finally supported on CP. I can now put the phone holder away. Make sure phone apps are updated and running ios 12. Also, can go into iPhone settings to move icons to first screen.

How do I get the top “search” bar to disappear?

I have a black bar on the top that won’t go away when I’m using the Waze App. Any advice?

Not sure that you can b/c that's how you access the other Waze menus. I play with it and see.

I gave up trying to use Waze on an X, or XS. When you put the app to "sleep" to save battery- there is no way to not "wake" the app up when sliding up from the bottom bar to go back to other home screens. You have to do a half swipe and "close " the program out to get it to stay off gps! Too much hassle while driving. Also, some features are missing so far on Waze through CarPlay .

Not reliable on my 2018 Nissan Rogue. Screen turns black, no routing on carplay, Connecting with contacts is hit and miss. Waze is well aware of all the issues. Check out their forums.

I haven't been able to get the black bar to go away in Waze without choosing a destination: if it's giving me directions, the black bar goes away automatically. If Waze is not actively providing directions to a specific location, the black bar stays on the screen. The same search/info bar in Google Maps, on the other hand, disappears automatically in every instance and reappears with a tap.

Waze has been working well for me so far. I'm glad to have the crowd sourced alerts and the speed limit on the screen. I hope that Waze shows when I'm exceeding the speed limit in a future update.

Same here, has to be a bug (I reported to Waze). The menu bar should auto hide until you need it like Apple and Google Maps. If you map out a destination on Waze the top bar then auto hides - so my guess it is a bug rather than a "feature".

I've been running into an issue with Waze and Apple Maps, voice alerts and turn-by-turn directions don't work. The prompts appear on the screen, and Apple Maps even mutes my music, but they don't say anything. Google Maps did it too but I was able to fix that. Been working with Apple over the last couple days on it but with little luck.

They are working on the black bar in the beta's, so it should improve. Not a great experience as of now, but still usable.

Waze on carplay sucks IMO. I hate to sound like an ungrateful bastard, but I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Unfortunately Apple forces Waze (and Google Maps) to strictly adhere to their own UI interpretation. So you end up missing a LOT of important information and get only the pure basics. Basically it's Apple maps UI with Waze/Google information/colors, that's it. You do regain a lot of the missing information if you keep your phone screen on, but that defeats the entire purpose of carplay doesn't it?

But it's not only the UI and lack of information, it's also the interaction. It's really difficult to scroll and you can't pinch to zoom, of course that's most likely more of an issue with hardware than the software. I have a 2016 Genesis G80 and have a pretty good screen, but it's still nowhere near what I get with an iPhone glass screen.

Lastly there is no way to either use any other carplay features without being forced to use waze on carplay. So it's all or nothing.

I came to the conclusion, rather quickly, that I was better off just leaving my phone on a car holder and using Waze right on the iPhone.

Waze and Google maps have been fine for the most part for me. 2018 Audi. It all likely depends on your car interface too. Android Auto is better sure, give CarPlay time. It's only been a week. The apps will get updated. The only annoyance for me is lack of Siri integration. Google Assistant on Android Auto blows Apple away.

Not a problem on my end. Everything seems to work great except for the occasional unable to route to a destination. 2018 Camaro.

Only issue I have is when the 'show speed limit' option is on, it's covered up by the next step on the navigation route. Feedback submitted to Waze

Can’t stand it, need an option to disable Waze on CarPlay. I want Waze on my iPhone and CarPlay messages and phone on. As it is now, that’s impossible so I have to keep CarPlay off.

Just remove it from CarPlay in Settings?
